An easy and delicious caramel dessert.
1 can sweetened, condensed milk
fresh whipped cream
1. Remove label from can of sweetened condensed milk, leaving lid on. Put can in a large pot with 12 cups of water. Slowly bring the water to a boil and then simmer over med-low heat for 2 hours. Remove can from pot and let cool.
2. Refrigerate for several hours (or longer) until can is chilled. Open can at both ends and push the cylinder of caramel out. It should be a golden color.
3. Cut the cylinder into slices and serve topped with fresh whipped cream and toasted walnuts.
** The cans say to not boil them, as they may explode, but it doesn't seem like many people have reported having this problem. It should be okay if you heat the can slowly and make sure the pot doesn't run out of water.
