I got a new writing gig doing weekly restaurant posts for Seattlest (thanks Kate!). I’m really excited, as I get to write them in the third person.
You can read my first post for Tamarind Tree at:

I’ve been to Tamarind Tree a few times and love their food (yummy, yummy). The only thing I’ve had trouble with is the service! In fact, the last time (after 10+ minutes wait for menus/attention of any kind) we actually walked out. There was no hope of having a good experience that night, even though they weren’t very full, it looked like they were severely understaffed. While waiting I saw a several mis-delivered plates, including one that actually sat on the wrong table for a few mintues before being removed and taken to the correct one! When I explained to the hostess why we were leaving she tried to get us to stay, but the owner(?) told her to let us go. And then gave us the evil eye.
Bottom line for me – nice decor, tasty food, oddly enjoyable drinks, BAD service. Which totally sucks, because I reallly wanted them to be my new favorite restaurant!
Ooops! I forgot – congrats on the new gig!
Tamiko, I’m so sorry to hear you had such bad service! That will ruin a restaurant experience for me as well. Although the night we were there, we actually had exceptional service and felt like we had our own private waiter.
Grilled lamb chops or bake them.. . roasted red potatoes with chopped garlic, salt, pepper and parsley. . . crusty bread drizzled with EVOO and rubbed with garlic cloves. . . bacon wrapped asparagus; baked.
