The Seattle Times has a write up in today’s paper about fathers and cooking. I submitted a blurb and a recipe for my dad’s jook. The blurb was printed but it doesn’t look like the recipe made the cut (it’s not exactly a summer-time recipe).

Happy Father’s Day, Dad!!
Megan,
My family has similar arguments over who gets any bird carcasses from family meals. Smoked turkey is a favorite for lentil soup.

Cool, Megan! I just did a quick scan of this article this morning and missed your name – dang it! Too bad they didn’t reference iheartbacon… but I guess that wasn’t the point. :-)

Kevin, Your lentil soup sounds amazing. I love lentil soup, but I’ve never made it before! I’m going to have to try out your recipe—maybe with a smoked ham hock. YUM!
Thanks Brenda! It’s kinda fun to see your name in print ;-)
Megan,
“I’m going to have to try out your recipe—maybe with a smoked ham hock. YUM!”
Smoked ham hock is good, but if you can get a smoked turkey leg or some wings (my grocery sometimes sells them) the turkey is really better.

Congrats Meg! Name in newsprint ~ yay!
And Dad must be quietly pleased too =)
Kevin, okay, I’m going to try and locate a smoked turkey leg…
Thanks Augustus! Yes, Dad was happy as well!
