After finding Heinz baked beans at PFI, I was excited to cook my first traditional English breakfast. I learned a few days ago that in England you can order the breakfast as a 3, 5 or 7, which denotes how many different items are on the plate. I opted for the full seven, which included:
Fried eggs
Sausage
Bacon
Sauteed mushrooms with garlic and dried oregano
Fried tomatoes with parsley and parmesan
Heinz baked beans
Toast
It was delicious and now I’m officially addicted to those beans. They are so subtle yet flavorful with a light sweetness that is perfect on buttered toast. I wonder if I can order them by the case at PFI?
ahh! heinz baked beans are the best. i always keep a can at the ready to serve on buttered toast. in england, you can buy frozen pizzas made by heinz that feature the beans as a topping. it’s weird that you can’t seem to get them (the beans, not the pizza) here, except as an imported product.
Okay, Heinz baked beans on pizza sounds great. I’m going to do a little pizza experiment as soon as I get my hands on some more beans…
Last weekend I found Heinz beans at World Market/Cost Plus. Yum!
Excellent! It’s always good to have another bean source. I will check them out.
